Essentially the term Business Process Management (BPM) means the activity of managing task(s) and processes pertaining to the execution of any business. More formally, Gartner Inc. defines BPM as a discipline that uses various methods to discover, model, analyze, measure, improve, and optimize business processes1 . It connects the behaviour of people, systems, information, and supporting infrastructure to produce business outcomes in the execution of a business strategy. BPM expert, Nathaniel Palmer explains it further by adding that it involves any combination of modelling, automation, execution, control, measurement and optimization of business activity flows, in support of enterprise goals, spanning systems, employees, customers and partners within and beyond the enterprise.
